A message from our CEO

I cannot believe that we are heahelenading into the last part of the year —where has the time gone? Having said that, we have definitely been busy over the last months and have some exciting news to share.

We’ve added a new Social Work service to our offer, which is available two days a week, and we believe this adds strength to our current financial counselling and emergency relief services. We have recruited two new financial counsellors and they will be starting in mid October with a specific focus on servicing the suburbs surrounding Girrawheen.

Eddystone Primary School have supported us again with an incredible and large collection of goods for our Bedtime Bundles Appeal. We are so very grateful for their ongoing support of The Spiers Centre and for the promotion of the work that we do in the community.

Year 7 students from Hale School have engaged in community work at the Centre as part of their “Butterfly Effect’ program. We are so excited to have the boys supporting us in building a strong caring community free of adversity.

We also recently introduced two new groups: a Social Club which meets on a Wednesday between 12:30pm and 2:30pm (with a second group on Friday between 12:30pm and 2:30pm), and a Gardening Group who tend our community garden. Our garden has received great support from a number of individuals and companies who have generously donated mulch, Bunnings vouchers, cash, a garden bench, manure, plants, flower beds, and potting mix.

We were also recently honoured by the City of Joondalup at a civic reception to recognise more than 25 years of service to the community.

Thankyou for your support and attendance at our centre.

Wishing you all well,

Helena
