From adversity to academics

Cathy has also seen another client a few times who has been escaping domestic violence and has never worked in Australia. They discussed study options given the client had no experience or confidence to enter the workforce. The client expressed a strong interest in community services as she wanted to be able to help others. Cathy encouraged the client as she believed she had a remarkable story and was successful in escaping domestic violence and living safely. This client returned to the centre recently as she needed assistance with an issue she was having over a hire purchase agreement. During the visit, the client informed Cathy that she is now undertaking a double diploma in community services. Cathy was proud of the client and the client was very grateful for the assistance received from The Spiers Centre Inc.
